On The Right Track with Too Faced Born This Way

I just noticed that I haven't done any cosmetic reviews in ages and this one is definitely long overdue. I'm quite late to join the Too Faced Born This Way bandwagon not because I don't want to but I don't wanna spend on a new one before running out of my favorite liquid foundation; Chanel Perfection Lumiere which I love dearly.

I've read mixed reviews about this foundation, looks like beauty junkie all over the world either love it or hate it which make me even more curious to find out more about the product myself. Okay I lie, I'm practically sold when I heard they cleverly named it after Lady Gaga's hit song, lol

My recent skin condition leaning more towards dry skin with oily T-zone and it's a real pain to find a foundation that can help with both problems simultaneously. So yes, I didn't have high expectation with this one and pretty much resigned with whatever the outcome might be. I can always pass it to my sisters if it didn't work out for me, right?

According to Too Faced; Born This Way is an oil-free liquid foundation foundation that can masterfully diffuses the line between makeup and skin to give undetectable coverage with natural looking, luminous complexion. It provides medium to full coverage besides free from gluten, paraben, sulfate and phthalate. Not only that, it's cruelty-free too.

Formulated and infused with a potent combination of coconut water to replenish moisture level, nature's resilient alpine rose to brighten the skin's complexion and also promote elasticity and hyaluronic acid to give a smoother and more youthful appearance.

To use, simply blend the liquid foundation from the center of the face, outward using either a brush, sponge or your fingertips. For medium coverage, start with less and build your way up with more layers to get full coverage.

To be honest, I'm not exactly a big fan of Too Faced cosmetics; their packaging is not really my cup of tea, it's cute but too child-like and didn't have the luxurious feels that match it's price tag. This one however is totally different, the frosty glass jar with engraved gold details really looks and feels expensive to me. The pump is another plus point, sometimes I wonder why some of the foundation out there didn't bother to come out with one, sigh~

Since I purchased it online, I pick the shade based on the description alone. Light Beige seems like the best one that represent my skin; light / medium with neutral / golden undertone. Thank god it matches my skin perfectly! They have like 20 other shades so don't worry, you'll find your match too.

Let's start with what I like about this foundation. The packaging is beautifully done, looks just like any other high end cosmetics. I also like the consistency which is a little bit thicker initially but feels lightweight and settled to a semi-matte finish when applied on skin. It also gives a very natural finish even after I layered it twice.

Things that I dislike about it on the other hand is it's not long lasting especially if you have oily skin. Make sure you wear primer beforehand and set it with loose powder after applying it. It kind of hard to blend if you're using finger so use makeup brush or sponge instead. I'm not really fond of the scent too which have a hint of coconut scent.

★★★☆☆

All in all, I would say this is not a bad foundation if you have normal to combination skin but might not be for those with oily skin. It live up to it's name in terms of the natural looking finish but the longevity and difficulty to blend didn't impress me. It looks good on your vanity unfortunately not as travel friendly. Other than that, I love it and don't mind wearing it for short outing session.
