I heard about how music turns someone life around all the time before but seeing a living proof of one right before my eyes definitely a blog worthy mention in my book. Shazzwan, the latest hip hop act in town might choose the wrong path during his rebellious phase, his passion for music on the other hand certainly not one of them... It's not only saved him from sank even deeper, it's also served as a reminder for him to change for his future.
His time as a juvenile delinquent became the driving force and inspiration behind the creation of his music, all thanks to the once in a lifetime opportunity given by Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor. He can finally put his past to rest and pursue his dream in the music industry under the wing of one of Malaysian's pioneer rapper, Yogi B from Poetic Ammo.
According to Y.A.D. Raja Tan Sri Dato' Seri Arshad bin Raja Tun Uda, the Chairman of Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor; the foundation supports youths between the ages of 18 to 29 years old by helping them develop their confidence, skills and talents. The "Talent for the World" programme specifically select candidates like Shazzwan who show great potential in his chosen field who will then be trained and guided by a mentor.
After undergoing 10 years of apprenticeship with Yogi B, Shazzwan successfully produced his debut album, Titipan Banduan Muda which featured 8 songs that strongly influenced by his colourful life journey. From the catchy numbers like Aku Tak Kisah and Hidup to the beautifully written track; Titipan Banduan Muda, Shazzwan shown maturity beyond his years in his songs and honestly, listening to the album make me feels like I'm taking a ride through his life experience.
I was there @ Hard Rock Cafe last week to witness the prestigious launch of Shazzwan's debut album which received royal attendance by Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, Raja Muda Selangor; Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Datin Paduka Setia Zatashah binti Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj and Y.A.D. Dato' Setia Aubry Rahim Mennesson. Also present at the event were the foundation's Board of Trustees comprising of Y.A.D. Raja Tan Sri Dato' Seri Arshad bin Raja Tun Uda, Y.A.D. Dato' Setia Mohammad Adzib bin Mohd Isa, Y.A.D. Tan Sri Dato' Seri Syed Mohd Yusof bin Tun Syed Nasir, Y.Bhg. Puan Sri Datin T.D. Ampikaipakan and Y.Bhg. Dato' Richard A. J. Curtis.
Titipan Banduan Muda will be on sale at local music stores nationwide and iTunes from Friday, 4th September 2015 and end of September respectively. I highly recommend his title track, Titian Banduan Muda for all of you to listen to but his other songs are worth checking out as well.
