Smooth, Velvety Touch With Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet

I don't have lots of luck when it comes to foundation. With the complicated skin that I'm currently in, it's quite hard to find the perfect balance while achieving the look I desired successfully. My combination-oily skin can sometimes leans more towards oily or change dramatically to dry overnight so I switched and tested out few samples every now and then to get the perfect match. I'm still figuring out which one work best for me but based on everything that I've tried so far, Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet never left me feeling disappointed.

Prior to this, I've had the privilege to try Chanel Perfection Lumiere all thanks to my husband thoughtfulness. I like it so much that I purchased it again but sadly not every Chanel boutique here have it in stock. The only logical thing to do is obviously going for it's baby sister eventhough their products price hike over the years made me re-evaluate my decision numerous times. I'm glad I took the plunge and bought it, this baby might be small but it's mighty!

According to Chanel, Perfection Lumiere Velvet Smooth Effect Makeup SPF15 is described as a lightweight and oil-free foundation with unique formula that provides a matte-velvet finish that gives sheer to medium coverage. Infused with Patented Perfect Light Control Complex which contains two types of hemispherical; semi-transparent powders to amplify luminosity and to create a soft-focus effect that smooth and perfect the skin for a flawless look that lasts all day. To use, simply shake the bottle and blends with fingertips from the center of the face outward.

Let's talk about the packaging first. The foundation is packed in a black plastic case that didn't looks and feels as expensive as the typical Chanel's foundation glass jar we're used to. It's however, small and handy, ready to slip in the handbag and perfect for travelling. It might not be much to others but with this one, I don't have to worry about broken glass or spillage. Comes with the signature Chanel lettering on the twist-able cap, it's fancy and practical enough for my humble needs. The nozzle can get dirty easily though so wipe it up after every use to keep it clean.

The texture on the other hand is lightweight as claimed and turns into powdery matte finish when applies on skin. Since it dries up pretty quickly, the best way to use it is by applying it section by section. I prefer using my makeup sponge and slowly building up the coverage. It's blends very well so I normally go for 2 or 3 layer depends on the looks I'm going for. That's not all, it can also double up as concealer too, ain't that music to every women's ear? And yes, you can skip the loose powder with this one unless you have extremely oily skin.

One thing about this foundation, you need to wear face primer beforehand and properly moisturize your skin. It'll oxidize one shade darker if you don't and accentuate your skin dryness. Despite all that, it does last wonderfully forever on me, sometimes up to a good 10 hours! Moving on to the shade, 30 Beige seems like the closest one they have to my skin and I really love how natural it looks even after few layers. Another thing I love about this foundation is the scent. It's soft, subtle and not overpowering at all, just the way I like it!

What I dislike about it of course is the price which is for certain will only get higher and higher. They increase the price from RM161 couple of years ago to RM200 this year! The nozzle is again, have the tendency to look gross if I'm not careful enough. The range of shades they have too is not much to begin with especially for those with deep skin tone. Another thing that bugs me is that we need to shake the bottle before every single use. I forgot doing it all the time and the consistency can get very hard to work with. Other than that, it's absolutely perfect for me!
