[Tips & Tricks] Keeping the Love Alive

When you first start dating your partner, you're two single people getting together and having a good time. You probably enjoy holidays and romantic meals together, and you can spend the evenings curled up on the couch watching TV doing absolutely nothing. However, when the kids come along, this scenario can dramatically change. You might not have the time to go out together anymore and when you do, it's probably somewhere fun for the kids instead. So, how can you keep the magic alive once you become a parent?

❤  SEND SECRET MESSAGES

One way that you can still keep the love alive is to send each other secret love messages. For example, leave your partner a little note on the fridge telling them how much you love them. Leave a little message in their lunch box, so they discover it at lunchtime when you aren’t there. You can also send them messages on their phone or just send some cute emojis or perhaps using their cute nicknames. Doing this sweet little gesture definitely counts and shows that you are still thinking of each other even if you cannot always be together.

❤  SEND GIFTS

Although everyone loves to receive a gift from a loved one, you can make it extra special by sending it to them unexpectedly. For example, you can send a bunch of flowers to your partner's office or perhaps meet them for an impromptu lunch at work. These kind of surprises will never get boring and it's a lovely way to remind your special one how much you really care. When special occasions arise, you can make things even better by arranging for a surprise gift too. I'm sure your other half will appreciate your effort to rekindle the romance.

❤  WEEKEND AWAY

Even though you have kids, it doesn’t mean that you can’t have the occasional weekend away. If you have friends or family that can look after the kids for couple of days, use the opportunity to spend some time together for a weekend getaway. It doesn’t have to be far, in fact it could be in the very same town, as long as it's only involve the two of you. If you normally have a hectic life, you can choose to spend the weekend relaxing and unwind together. You can also revisit the places you used to meet each other and create new memories together.

❤  TAKE TIME WHEN YOU CAN

If your children keep a good sleeping routine, you can always use the time after they've gone to bed to spend time together. All you need to do is make sure everything is settled before bedtime and you're all set to binge watch your favorite series or perhaps took the time to talk and share your dreams with each other. Becoming a parent doesn’t necessarily means you can't have a romantic relationship. In fact, it become even more important once the children arrive. So, don't take anything for granted and until then, keep the love alive lovelies, adieu~

  1. Keeping the love alive need not be hard work, but it requires effort. Sometimes, it's the little gestures that has the biggest impact. And you're right, it's harder when the kids are small and we're constantly tired. It's especially challenging to make a continuous effort especially when times are hard, workplace is demanding, etc. But it's worth it, right?
